I have a super long post today...with lots of pictures! So we're all moved into the new house! YAY! Closing went fairly smooth (Wells Fargo took their sweet time getting the paperwork to the title company but in the end it all worked out). That was on Monday the 9th. I ended up taking Wednesday off of work so I could get some shopping done before we took possession of the house. Our realtor called around 9pm on Wed to tell us we could get in. So we of course rushed over to the new house and did the "OMG I can't believe this is OUR house" thing. :) Thursday we started taking some loads of boxes over...we hired a moving company for all the big stuff but wanted to get as much small stuff over by ourselves if we could. And we started painting that day too. The walls in the house were all white...boooooring! So I wanted to get some "color" on them. We started with the laundry room and office because those were going to be the hardest ones to do once we got all of the furniture inside. A few people from my work stopped over to check out the new place too. Here are some pics from moving and painting! Oh, I knew I wanted to do an accent wall in our dining room and I had a towel that I was using for "inspiration" that had green, blue, teal and brown on it. So I matched the green and thought I'd try it for the wall. I got just a sample, in case I didn't like it. The color is "Organic Green" and it looks a lot like grass so I just wanted to make sure before I went all out with it! :) There's a pic of that too. We hired a painting company to paint the entry and living room because of the two-story ceilings. They stopped by on Thursday to tape off their areas as well.
Oh, I almost forgot...So on Wed night I used the bathroom that is off of the kitchen...No big deal. On Thursday morning I used the same one. I went to flush the toilet and nothing happened. So I tried again and pushed down the handle pretty hard and I broke the stupid thing! Of course I'm all like, "SEE JIM! This is why I was worried about buying a house! You move in and something breaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Of course I was exaggerating a little...well, not really...anyways, turns out instead of switching the water into my name, the city turned it off...and the thing didn't fill and that's why nothing happened when I flushed. Jim still had to fix it because I broke the handle, but geez...just my luck. :) Here's the broken toilet...first repair of the new house! hahahahaha.

Here are pictures of the painted office! And we did the closet too, of course. :) We used Valspar paint (had to support Dan!) and the color is Lyndhurst Stone. I loooooooove it!

On Friday, the painters came first thing to do their painting. They were absolutely AWESOME! They were cracking us up and giving us pointers and helping us out on the rooms we were painting as well. They had the entry and living room completely done in 7 hours (including a lunch break and putting two coats on!) Impressive. Next time, they can do my whole house. :) We started on the kitchen on Friday because our appliances were being delivered so I wanted to have the painting done before they showed up! Mmmm my fridge and stove ROCK!!!

I decided that I liked the green so we went ahead and worked on the dining room too.
On Saturday the movers showed up at 8:00 sharp. They had all of our big stuff moved over and unloaded by 11! HOLY COW! There were only two of them too! It was so nice having them move it. Absolutely worth the money! We had a lot of loads of small stuff to do on Saturday. It was a looooong day. Here we are...all moved in...and crap EVERYWHERE!!!! LOL! And look at that amazing paint job!

(Do you see how big of a Christmas tree I could put there?!??!)

Last week was a busy week...trying to get stuff done around the house and Jim had his last hockey game and all sorts of stuff going on. As it stands today...we have a lot to do. LOL! We finished the painting in the dining room today. And I absolutely LOVE the green wall. It's perfect. Jim changed all of the outlets, light switches and covers in there today. They were all the yellowish color that most houses have...while that color does blend into our walls more, I prefer white. So we changed those. Jim laughed at how I was so excited how they looked when they were bright, crisp, clean white. He said he's going to get me those for my birthday if that's how excited I'm going to be. LOL! We are off to get a new dining room table this week. And then all I have to do in there is find something big for the one wall...I have a piece of art made out of metal but I don't think it's big enough. Once I do that and unpack the stuff for the curio cabinet, one room will be completely done. Finally. LoL!

The kitchen and laundry room just need some touch up paint done to them. We didn't do any painting in our bedroom because I couldn't decide what I wanted to do! I finally decided to go with a lighter khaki colored walls (not like the rest of the house because it has a greenish tint to it...i'm going lighter and more neutral) and one wall will be chocolate brown. The master bath will be all khaki walls. Our bedding is chocolate brown and a light green (but not pastel), more of sea color. I thought all of the walls being the chocolate brown would be too dark, so I'm going to do just one wall dark. After that we need to do the 1/2 bath off the kitchen, the upstairs bathroom and the extra bedroom and then all the painting will be done. YAHOO! :) I think we've spent more at Lowe's & Home Depot this past week then we have in the entire 8 years we've been together! hahahaha.

Yesterday, our friend Tim came by to help Jim hang the TV...I was so nervous they were going to drop it...or it was going to fall off the wall...or something...but everything was ok!

We did add one (absolutely necessary) touch to the outside of the house. All of the trees here are budding and we have a really cute one out front that I'll have to take a picture of...but anyways, we added this to the porch. Kinda completes it, don't ya think?

None of our neighbors have come by to introduce themselves yet...not sure if we live in a snobby neighborhood or what, but I thought that was odd. :)

I had hoped to have everything unpacked, painted, etc. before our party but I'm coming to terms with that simply is not going to happen. I know our friends won't care...that just means they'll have to come over again when everything is done, right? And Jim's brother and wife are coming down for the party too, which I think is great! I love having them around. It should be so much fun. I have a lot of cleaning (moving boxes out of the way), cooking and jello shots to make before the party, but I think I can get it all done. Oh! And Tim is having a photo booth set up here for the party too. Like those ones in the mall...where you go in and it takes like 3 pictures of you. Isn't that awesome? It's going to be so much fun! I need to start bowling so I can kick everyone's butt, too! :)

Anyways, I'll keep posting pictures as we get more settled into the house...and I should have some great pictures from the partay! :) Until then...
